I think that upgrading Archers to level 6 is unnecessary. What do you think of that?

Yes it is unnecessary and more of a bragging rights.
Upgrading them won't make any difference as they'll still be one hit by almost all turrets/defenses.
Save your elixir and just upgrade your archers when there's nothing else to enhance.

Upgrading your troops is always necessary if you want to have great chances of winning battles.
Archers when upgraded to level 6, will gain higher hit points and increased damage capability.
Higher hit points mean that they can sustain longer from enemy attacks preventing them from dying too quickly.
Upgraded archers will also increase the damage that they can do to enemy buildings destroying them faster.
Archers can be of great help because of their ability to target enemy buildings from afar.
These upgraded abilities will greatly help you in raiding enemy villages for loot and trophies, as well as in clan wars.
